Flood Risk Map A £30m online map has been launched to tell homeowners what risk of flooding their house has. It’s been released by the Environment Agency and it covers England and Wales. Each area is given a rating based on it’s location, condition of flood defenses and predicted water levels. The map has been created to assist councils with planning decisions. Although the down side which is troubling house owners is the fact that it could mean higher insurance premiums. This could leave some people unable to sell their houses. Properties are given ratings from low / moderate / high risk. Low risk is said to be around a 1 in 1000 chance of being flooded within a year.
